Skip Dettman

Skip Dettman is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in behavioral forensics from the University of Central Florida, followed by a master’s degree in social work. Skip later completed the doctoral curriculum at Tulane University and is scheduled to defend her dissertation in August 2026.Her clinical background spans a wide range of settings, including prisons, crisis stabilization units, and inpatient substance‑use treatment programs, where she has worked with individuals across the lifespan—“from cradle to grave.” After relocating from Florida to Northern Illinois in 2016, Skip continued expanding her expertise in trauma‑informed care, addiction treatment, and forensic mental health. Skip holds multiple advanced credentials, including LCSW, ACSW, CAADC, and CFMHE, reflecting her commitment to high‑level clinical practice and ongoing professional development. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors in any capacity.
